From the Sex Trade to Fair Trade

This week the Washington Post ran a photo gallery of heartbreaking photos taken in a brothel in Bangladesh.

I know that many of you have asked about our RESCUE tote bags that are created by Freeset, a fair trade cooperative that rescues women from the sex trade in India and provides them with work at a fair wage, training, and even insurance.

It's difficult to imagine the life that these women endured but I think this photo gallery offers a peek into that prison that many women, often sold by their families, find themselves enslaved in. While these photos were taken in Bangladesh, it provides a look into a world--one filled oftentimes with very young women and their children--where there are few chances for escape.

Thank you all for your purchases of our RESCUE bags and for supporting the work that Freeset does to help give women a life beyond conditions such as these.
