Rescue of the Week: Ahimsa Animal Rescue

Taking an ancient Sanskrit word which means "To do no harm, in thought or deed, to any living creature" as the mantra for its mission of mercy, Ahimsa Animal Rescue has offered homeless dogs and cats a place of both healing and hope since its start in 1999.

An all-volunteer group, the Massachusetts non-profit made the leap from a foster based rescue to a shelter in 2013, with companion animals saved by the organization finding solace in what was once the Templeton Animal Control facility.  Looking to expand the rescue's outreach even further, the dedicated team is also working to turn the idea of a haven for adoptable animals on a 7.5-acre spread in Winchendon from reverie to reality.

Among the fortunate Fidos and felines who are one step closer to finding their forever home thanks to Ahimsa Animal Rescue are DogTipper's #PawPromise Adoptable Dog of the Week, a two-year-old Boxer mix named Moo...

...and CatTipper's #PawPromise Adoptable Cat of the Week, a two-year-old polydactyl cat called Bailey.
